A/B ROLL Video Editing

  • One video track is layered over the other and transitions are in between to connect vidclips.
  • In Premiere select WINDOW - WORKSPACE - A/B Editing . Try it.
  • Then select SINGLE-TRACK EDITING mode and see the difference.
  • Use whichever method suits you.
  • TRANSITIONS
  • Wipes or fades that connect one vidclip to another.
  • Just drag them to the timeline and put between the vidclips you choose.
  • There are 3D, fly-ins, cubes, spins etc.
  • Go over the top with them at first to learn how to use them and then pull right back. Some of them can be downright tacky.
  • FILTERS
  • Click on a vidclip in the timeline and select the desired filter(Premiere) or drag filter onto vidclip(FCP).
  • Filters do things like brightness, contrast, colour correction. B& W, emboss, etc.
  • Experiment.
  • MOTION FX
  • Select a clip and open the Motion Settings dialog box.
  • Set and adjust keyframes on the motion path.
  • CLIP SPEED
  • You can change the speed and duration of a video or audio clip.
  • Choose Clip - speed and enter a percentage.
  • A negative (-) value will reverse the clip.
  • When using less than 100% select "De-interlace" in Clip - Video Options- Field options.
